Professor Gaye Theresa Johnson, associate professor in the Department of African American Studies and the Department of Chicana/o Studies, has been featured as a Course Hero Master Educator. Disposession, structural racism, and traditions of resistance are cornerstones of Dr. Johnson’s work. She encourages her students to come face to face with the stories from those who are often silenced.
As a land grant institution, the Chicana/o and Central American Studies department at UCLA acknowledges the Gabrielino/Tongva peoples as the traditional land caretakers of Tovaangar (Los Angeles basin, So. Channel Islands).
