Biography

For more than three decades, Vilma Ortiz has studied the socioeconomic experiences of Latinos in the U.S., focusing both on specific Latino groups, as well as comparative studies with other racial/ethnic groups. Included among her publications is her award-winner book, Generations of Exclusion: Mexican Americans, Assimilation, and Race (co-authored with Edward Telles, Russell Sage Foundation Publications, 2008).
