Biography

Sara (she/ella) uses oral histories and pláticas to explore Central American cultural and historical memory and Central Americans in the United States transnational cultural production. Her work is grounded in her own experiences as a Guatemalan who was raised in the greater Los Angeles Area and as someone who has tried to learn more about Guatemala and her family through a transnational lens. For her undergraduate senior thesis, she examined the use of storytelling in her own family, other Central American families, and community spaces. At its core, her work is transnational, intersectional, and interdisciplinary.
