Announcement: CCAS 8-Year Review Site Visit

Attention Members of the César E. Chávez Department of Chicana/o and Central American Studies

As you know, the César E. Chávez Department of Chicana/o and Central American Studies will be
undergoing a regular programmatic review by the UCLA Academic Senate on March 11th and 12th, 2024. The review team comprises two internal reviewers assigned by the Academic Program Review Committee (APRC) and two external reviewers from peer institutions.

In preparation for the site visit, we are working with the Academic Senate to prepare a schedule for the review team to meet with key stakeholders in the program. The reviewers would like to meet with faculty, undergraduate students, graduate students, Lecturers, and staff to discuss our programs. These meetings are arranged in group settings and/or in individual one-on-one meetings with the reviewers. The group meeting schedule is as follows:

Monday, March 11, 2024
10:30 AM – 11:00 AM Meeting with Assistant Professors
1:30 PM – 2:00 PM Meeting with Lecturers
2:00 PM – 2:30 PM Meeting with Full Professors
2:30 PM – 3:00 PM Meeting with Associate Professors
3:00 PM – 3:30 PM Meeting with Graduate Students
3:30 PM – 4:00 PM Meeting with Undergraduate Students

Tuesday, March 12, 2024
8:30 AM – 10:30 AM Individual Meetings with faculty/students scheduled by the Academic Senate Program Review Office.

10:30 AM – 11:00 AM Staff

If you would prefer to make an appointment with the review team in confidence, please complete the
Confidential Meeting Request Form  by Thursday, February 29 at 5:00 PM.

If you are unable to meet during this time for any reason, you may submit a confidential written statement to ProgramReview@senate.ucla.edu for the Review Team’s consideration.

Everyone is encouraged to participate in the review process. It will allow us to receive extensive feedback, which will be used to make additional improvements to the program.
